“Yeah, yeah, I still got the itch to play. I got the itch, man” said LeBron James once, but not in reference to basketball. Instead, it was football! The professional sports path that he would have taken if NBA aspirations hadn’t ruled over the decision. While he may have never gotten to pursue football professionally, the 39-year-old continues enjoying the sport as a fan. From booting up his console to play Madden once in a while to often seeing him cheering on his favorite players, LeBron James becomes a relatable individual for NBA fans in those moments. Now, after a long time, the star decided to show his love for the sport in person.
Earlier today, the official X account of the NFL highlighted LeBron James attending the matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and the Miami Dolphins. Currently, under a 2-6 record, the latter franchise traveled to Los Angeles as part of the ‘Monday Night Football’ event. Being in the city of Hollywood, some celebrities would’ve been expected to turn up for the game. Given his love for footy, and the fact that the SoFi Stadium was just 10.1 miles away from the Crypto.Com arena, this was an opportunity that the 4x NBA Champ simply could not miss.

LeBron’s appearance at the NFL game comes just hours after he got called out for a big typo mistake! Back in late October, as the MLB tournament was in its final stage, Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman hit a memorable 343-foot home run that gave his team an early 2-0 lead. Celebrating the hit, LeBron took to X and wrote: “FREDDY FREEMAN WE ARE NOT WORTHY!!!!!”. ‘Freddy’, and not ‘Freddie’, which is how one writes the MLB star’s name. Freeman called out the mistake during a ‘New Heights’ podcast episode hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce, with the hosts having a good laugh. The interview also caught LeBron James’ attention. He issued a quick apology on his Instagram story a couple of hours ago, writing “FREDDIE!!!! My bad man! You was the boogie man out there so I just thought like Mr. Kruger!”
Along with his general love for football and the NFL, LeBron James has also been a longtime supporter of Matthew Stafford. With the 36-year-old currently leading in Passing Yards, LeBron would certainly be having an entertaining night.
This is a developing story.
